Fiscal Sponsorship

Socially Distant Art is working towards gaining 501(c)3 status in the coming years. In the meantime, we have fiscal sponsorship through Open Collective Foundation, a platform where communities can collect and disburse money transparently, to sustain and grow their projects.

Budget

  • We are currently a program which functions on a limited budget through the financial support of our co-founders. Our current annual budget is roughly $3,500, and does not yet include salaries for our Leadership team, or stipends for our residents. You can view our current budget and future proposed financial goals by viewing our Public Budget Spreadsheet. We are committed to financial transparency.

  • Over the next couple years we are hoping to raise funding for an expanded budget which includes:

    • Google Workspace Accounts for all our Leadership Team Members;

    • An additional Squarespace website and domain to host community virtual exhibitions;

    • Funding for CART + ASL services for more public events;

    • A rematriation fund that helps create relationships between our residents and the Indigenous nation local to them;

    • A higher discretionary fund to allow for program growth;

    • 501(c)3 formation fees

  • In order to creating a program that truly supports equity, inclusivity, and accessibility, our long-term goals focus primarily on funding salaries for our Leadership Team and providing our residents with a stipend for their first year in our community. We are also hoping to secure additional funding for:

    • Developing a publication division of our organization for community created art books

    • An expanded rematriation fund to foster relations between our community members and the Indigenous nations local to them

    • Additional Accessibility service funding for CART + ASL services, so we can host more Public events

We would like to thank the Disability Chapter of the Awesome Foundation for providing us with a $1000 grant (June 2022) to help fund ASL interpretation for our synchronous community events during our 2022/23 residency cycle!
