Courtney Felle

She | Her | Hers - They | Them | Theirs

Washington, DC | Currently occupying the unceded lands of the Nacotchtank and Piscataway peoples. Grew up on the lands of the Haudenosaunee peoples.

Artist Statement

In no order, I am motivated to write, create, & love by:

  • Really good breakfast sandwiches

  • 373 Spotify playlists and counting

  • Trying not to hate doctors anymore, despite their best efforts to deserve it

  • Fellow disabled activists, poets, & friends

  • Twitter doomscrolling

  • Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Mia Mingus, Stacey Park Milbern, & others living & ancestors who have written powerfully about disability justice

  • Lowercase letters & a love of the ampersand

  • Embarrassing old diary entries I can't stop revisiting

  • Productive anger in pursuit of love (still, mostly, against the medical-industrial complex)

  • Unions

  • The idea, the hope, the dream of a future we can all survive into.
